MRCP Book Review: Rapid Review of Clinical Medicine for MRCP Part 2 by Sanjay Sharma
One of my favourite books for the MRCP Part 2 Written exam was Rapid Review of Clinical Medicine for MRCP Part 2. Compared to MRCP Part 1 which was largely a memorisation exercise, MRCP Part 2 involves a significant amount of data interpretation and I remember this made the question stems very lengthy.
The format of Rapid Review of Clinical Medicine for MRCP Part 2 consists of one page of question stems (generally 1 long question, 2 shorter ones or 3 very short ones) with data for you to interpret, followed by a page of the respective detailed answer(s). Although Dr Sanjay Sharma and his co-author Dr Rashmi Kaushal are cardiologist and endocrinologist respectively, this book tests the candidate with a wide variety of questions to simulate the broad base of knowledge required to pass MRCP Part 2.
When I studied for MRCP Part 2, I also felt that Rapid Review of Clinical Medicine for MRCP Part 2 managed to tread the fine line of going into enough depth without getting bogged down in the minute details of medicine. After all, passing an exam is a completely different ballgame to becoming a professor in that subject so the depth of study has always been a different question to answer!
Rapid Review of Clinical Medicine for MRCP Part 2 will set you back around £70 for around 400 detailed questions tailored for this exam but perhaps might give you a break from staring at an online question bank for weeks and months on end. In my opinion it was well worth the investment and if I was studying for it again I’d definitely purchase it again.
For this I’d give this book 5/5 stars.
